With a former journalist on our team, at Hummingbirds we know better than anyone how to approach the press. We can develop a professional press release for you with all the necessary information and several interesting quotes. The clearer and more complete your story is, the greater the chance that you can effectively convince journalists of the relevance of your story. Don’t forget that they receive many press releases daily, so you must convince them that your news is truly worthwhile.
Of course, you won’t simply get a spot in the newspaper, let alone attention on a (local) television station. Some news value is required for that. But if you’re starting a new business, opening a new branch, or moving into a new building… you certainly have a good chance of getting an article. And perhaps there’s an additional aspect to your news. An energy-neutral building, an accompanying green area, or a fitness centre for staff members? In our press communications, we don’t fail to highlight your strengths.
You can also put your brand name in the spotlight in a positive way through personal stories. Suppose, for example, that you were active as a childminder for years, but are now suddenly opening a restaurant. This remarkable career switch can provide a nice angle for a journalistic story. Or perhaps your family business is now in its fourth generation? When new family members come on board in a family business, that too is a potentially beautiful story.
What always works well, especially in local newspapers, are anniversaries. Has your company been in business for 25 or 50 years? Then perhaps there’s a celebration planned and the history of the business can be highlighted. This also applies to honouring employees with an exceptional service record. Is someone retiring after 40 years of loyal service? Then you’ll certainly want to honour that person and of course you can also invite the local press.
